Femmy Otten (1981) behoorde in 2014 tot de selectie van drie kunstenaars die de ministeriele opdracht kregen om een staatsieportret van koning Willem-Alexander te maken. In haar werk laat Otten zich niet beperken door het kader van het doek of papier. Ze onderscheidt zich vooral door haar complexe wandcomposities waarin twee- en driedimensionale elementen samenkomen. Beelden van vrouwen en van mythologische wezens, gemaakt van gips of hout, rijzen op uit een spierwitte wand. Tekeningen in serene lijnen, waterige kleurmonsters, mythologische wezens en pastel geschilderde motieven en fresco''s voltooien de mythische wereld waarin Otten haar poetische logica schept.

In 2014, Femmy Otten (1981) was one of three artists who were selected by the government to make an official portrait of King Willem-Alexander. Otten refusses to comply with the scope of canvas or paper. She mainly distinguishes herself by her complex wall compositions, bringing together two- and threedimensional elements. Images of women and of mythological creatures, made of plaster or wood, rise out of a bright white wall. Drawings in serene lines, watery-coloured monsters, mythological creatures and pastel-painted motifs and frescoes complete the mythical world in which Otten creates her poetic logic.
